Policies
The professional relationship between a client and psychiatrist requires guidelines in order to protect both parties involved.
Payment and Invoices: All payments are made by credit card and will be charged at the time of the appointments. Invoices can be supplied on a monthly basis, if requested.
Cancellations: At least 48 hours of notice is needed to avoid being charged at the full rate of the scheduled service.
No Shows: Will be charged at the full rate of the scheduled service. Payment must be made for future appointments to be scheduled. Checking in at 15 minutes or later past the start time may result in a No Show charge.
Frequency of Visits: Frequency depends on each client’s individual needs. New patients are generally seen monthly for the first 6 months.
Telemedicine: I am only providing telepsychiatry via a HIPPA compliant platform. By engaging in care with me, clients attest that they will be physically located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware at the time of their appointment.
Urgent Appointments: If you need to be seen earlier than your next scheduled appointment, please email or call me with your available times. I will do my best to accommodate.
Emails: Only non-clinical information should be shared via email. This includes coordinating appointments or other basic information. Topics such as response to medications, side effects, or questions about treatment recommendations are best discussed during appointment times.
Medication Refills: Medication refills will be discussed during appointment times. Any concerns about medication refills can be sent via email. Please include your full legal name, Date of Birth, and full name and address of the pharmacy.
Controlled Substances: Note that I frequently check the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs. Medications should never be shared with others and a urine toxicology screen may be required if I believe it to be clinically necessary.
After Hours: Emails and phone calls will be returned within 24-72 hours. All non-urgent matters will be handled during normal business hours.
Emergencies: If a psychiatric emergency occurs, contact 911, go to your nearest Crisis Response Center (CRC), or emergency department. Provide the treating provider with my contact information.
Forms and Letters: Filling out extensive forms for administrative purposes (including extensive/repeat Prior Authorization requests for medications), work, school, or disability will be charged at the rate of $100 per 15 minutes if more than 15 minutes is required.
Phone Consultations and Collateral Information: Extensive conversations with therapists, partners, parents, or other family members will be charged at the rate of $100 per 15 minutes if more than 15 minutes is required.
Release of Information: By engaging in care with me, you are giving me permission to speak to any other clinical providers you are seeing for treatment. I will notify you before I do this. If you are a minor and disclose thoughts to harm yourself or others, I may disclose this to your caregiver and other appropriate authorities.
Mandated Reporter: As a psychiatrist, I am a mandated reporter, which means I am legally required to report suspected child abuse if I have reasonable cause to suspect that a child is a victim of abuse.
Discontinuation of Services: If either of us decide to end our clinical work together, at least one month’s supply of medication and referrals will be provided, if requested. I reserve the right to end treatment if I believe our therapeutic relationship will not be beneficial to your care.
Public Interactions: If we were to run into each other in a public setting, in order to protect confidentiality, please note that I will not acknowledge you without you first acknowledging me. You are welcome to bring up concerns about this during our sessions.
